Errill Morris has carved out quite a niche for himself. Did anyone ever slog their way through his essay(s) on Roger Fenton's Crimean War photograph with the cannon balls in the road??? It would have been twice as interesting if it were half as long.
I'll bet he didn't expect it to become perhaps the most analyzed snapshot in modern times. Thanks, Errol Morris!
I highly recommend this article from the New Yorker of a few weeks ago. Long, but very much worth it.
