For 30 years the joy of finding a new book was always a great thrill but I am intrigued by Josef's comment about how this thrill can fade with time and perhaps this is part of the problem all collectors have - once they own the object it somehow loses its power. The book you have never been able to find - or afford - if it is a book you love, will always be more alluring than the one you can possess. Freud would have a field day with this I am sure. However, the wonderful thing is that second printings are now rising from the passion for photobooks - my desire for a copy of Die Welt ist Schon is soon to be fulfilled by a 30Euro exact fascimile reprint this summer - so suddenly a £2000 book is yours for £30. This is as it should be. The reprint of American Photographs and Fabrik amongst others are also good examples. And for those that really want a bargain - by the book without a dustjacket - you might just save yourself a fortune !!

Thanks JosefUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10970532023654746522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4935046131385109105.post-18660444476033276332018-03-12T06:19:59.769-07:002018-03-12T06:19:59.769-07:00Last year I visited the art library at sitterwerk,...Last year I visited the art library at sitterwerk, St. Gallen, Switzerland.
They found out the perfect way to organise an art library. They installed the dynamic order. Every book has a small chip in it so you can put it on the shelf wherever you want. The Computer always knows, where the book is. Great stuff.

http://www.sitterwerk.ch/en/art-library/dynamic-order.htmlSascha L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08096756938577136316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4935046131385109105.post-43980556506047395522018-03-09T07:28:38.532-08:002018-03-09T07:28:38.532-08:00Great ampersands!!Great ampersands!!Marilyn Andrewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17296839221308241399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4935046131385109105.post-81889583011489577062018-03-08T09:07:39.979-08:002018-03-08T09:07:39.979-08:00Really interesting to read some thoughts from the ...Really interesting to read some thoughts from the creator of my favourite website. Eternally grateful to Josef for spending so much time scanning and photographing books and allowing me to get a glimpse of books I'd otherwise never be able to see.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16034221378404341471noreply@blogger.com
