I agree that Haymes seems full of himself. And ironically, Redheaded Peckerwood fits Haymes's own definition of a good book (see his comment above). There's a reason why Redheaded Peckerwood has been everywhere. That kind of thing only happens when the work is good. No amount of marketing will send a photography book into a second edition (and I hear there will be a third). Full of myself certainly not, and inventing the wheel by publishing with Nobuyoshi Araki I`m 400 behind that eh?! What is more important is that books continue to captivate, excite and challenge through their Photography, design and narrative. That`s all I`m after, and if working on the umpteenth book with a 70+ year old man can do this, then why not.
If expressing personal opinions (that I`m not asking you to agree with) is deemed as "full of myself". Then so be it. You have to go into books with a very open mind but you must also be very critical and question why and what was the reasoning the book was made. Blake, with both Photography and Books has always been this way which is why I agreed to be quite frank with him regarding my opinions. In the interest of full disclosure, I did not buy the book but I have enjoyed looking at it and am very grateful to own a copy.Blake Andrewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07187987264904729243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4935046131385109105.post-42610076801284588442012-07-29T03:54:38.486-07:002012-07-29T03:54:38.486-07:00It seems like a fine book but at 325 is aiming onl...It seems like a fine book but at 325 is aiming only to the book collector's "upper" market.
I would be surprised if you actually have bough it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12084585101215191467noreply@blogger.com
